Unlike many of the holes that scored lower, the wind actually adds something to this one, most of the time. Possibly the central focus of the hole is the very tough green that makes landing close to the hole an imperative for birdie. It’s a hole that seems simple, but has much greater depth the more you play it. This hole is the highest-ranking par 3 on this list, and it’s absolutely deserving of that title. If not for this big flaw, this hole would rank somewhere right around the middle for me, but as it is, it deserves its lower placement. reward opportunity which makes this hole incredibly one-sided. There’s no incentive to try to actually hit it on the green for your first shot and risk a tricky putt when you could instead just drive it into the bunker and get an easy birdie. With any amount of practice, you’ll find yourself nailing this trick consistently, which from a game design perspective, poses a serious problem.
#WII SPORTS GOLF SCORES DRIVER#
It sounds crazy, I know, but using the driver to hit it from the bunker always sends in the same direction, leading to an incredibly consistent “flag chip”, in which the ball hits the flag and drops into the hole. This trick is painfully easy, as it simply involves you hitting your first shot into the front bunker, then using the driver to hit it out. So what’s the big issue with this hole? A little speedrunning trick called the “bunker strat”. It’s not anything special visually, but it gets the job done in that category. It, at its core, is a simple par 3 with clever bunker placement making landing close to the pin a tough task. Like hole 7, this hole would be great if not for a major issue plaguing it. This placing is most likely going to surprise any long-time players, as the majority of people whose opinions I’ve asked in the past place this one pretty close to the top. It manages a final score of 56.69, which might possibly be higher than it deserves, but I’ve done enough talking about this hole, so let’s move on. When you add on the arbitrarily placed trees on the left path meant only to make life harder for those who tried to play it safe, it’s obvious that this hole has big problems. This issue also translates to the “easier” route as well as any moderate to strong winds going directly West mean that birdie is scarcely even an option. Light wind to the Southwest? You’ll be fine. But if it’s to the Southeast, there’s 0 chance of you making it. This in and of itself would not be a big issue, as with enough practice you can master the cut and nail it on a consistent basis, but this hole is marred by one major flaw: the wind completely dictates whether or not you can make the cut. Hit one of them, and congratulations! Your ball went out of bounds and you get to drive again. This hole is built on a rather interesting concept, an extremely high-risk, high-reward shortcut that can give those who go for it a hole in one, or an aneurism, as you have to hit the ball through what is essentially an entire forest’s worth of trees.

Which, to be fair, is rather unfortunate.

I genuinely enjoy playing the lion’s share of holes in Wii Sports golf, however this one I do not.
